Yesterday I stumbled upon two good documentaries someone had transferred from old videos to Youtube. They both are contemporary views on club culture and on rap, made somewhere early 90's. Both are good quality, insightful and filled with good interviews. Check them out, if you're interested.
This one covers club culture from rap and house of Chicago to British contemporaries.
South Bank Show - Looking for the Perfect Beat
This one's about rap. It's suprisingly intellectual, not just praising all the old school cats but also highlighting raps connection with oral tradition of African-American music and social circumstances which made the background for rap. Recommended.
