Quick tip for the Turku people

Recommended for tonight in Turku:

Sheikki Sheikki have Uusi Fantasia at Klubi. One of the most interesting dance music collectives are on their way to drop a new album, so they have come here to test it out.

We visited the good Sheikki Sheikki folk last month at it was an amazing night. Then we did it with just a bunch of dj's so tonight should top that proper.

Check their myspace.

Check the event's facebook.

Over & Over at Pikku-Torre. Dj Ionik of Traveller Records and his mates spin some good disco, house and italo in the cozy Pikku-Torre. I might drop by there before Sheikki Sheikki.

Check the facebook.

There some good disco action at Kirjakahvila, too. We had a Queer studies seminar here in Turku and they are hosting a ball tonight. Check that one out here.

Don't forget to take a listen to my latest mix, too. Located just below this post.

The kid's got talent

I like calling people kid, because I'm one foot deep in being crampy and old. Anyways, this Finnish kid - he is actually something around 15 - won a certain highly influential remix competition a while back.

Lenno is his name. He publishes via Soundcloud, which is nice. This one below is his best work for date. Go and grab yourself a playable copy of it here:

B.o.B feat. Bruno Mars - Nothin' On You (Lenno Electro House Remix) by Lenno

If anyone knows something of the same kind of new-ish or looped up modern dance music, plz recommend.

Faux Pas is an Australian dude, and last year he released this 4 song Waterfalls EP for free. I bumped into it via Discodelicious.

Very emotional, danceable synth folk. Yup, there's some folk flavors there. Recommended for all the Animal Collective, Cut Copy-lovers out there.

And speaking of Australian music, you should keep an eye out for these as well:

Piuuu-piuuu goes the spacesound. A Tensnake remix is promised, so quite a no-brainer. Should be out soon.

And do check Canyons out as well. I've heard a new remix by them that's gonna be quite a killer on the all-important indie scene.

And to top it all of, here's a recent Finnish 12-incher that's making big waves. They'll perform in the next Hitto-night, so put that in your calendars. BTW, I tried to get a white label promo of this one for ages, but to no avail. Hopefully the final release will land in Turku, too.

Take care,
