My italo disco top 10 + some reminders for tomorrow

I promised you a while back a personal top 10 italo tracks list and here it is. I excluded some more disco-ish tracks and focused on synth driven songs.

Nicole J – I've got to go
G.A.N.G. - Incantations
Jody-J - Les Americains
Aax Donnell & Eric Malone - Golden cage
Fred Ventura - Lost in Paris (Sentimental Version)
Savage - Don't cry tonight (12” version)
B.W.H. - Stop
Mike Mareen - Dancing in the dark (Galactica Remix)
Lama - Love on the rocks (12" Mix)
Mike Francis – Survivor

I'll have nine of them with tomorrow. Mike Mareen is still missing from my collection :(

As ALL of you know, tomorrow is the big day - Suomi-Ruotsi-Disko-Ottelu! Here's a short list of things to know:

- We start at 15:00 and all of the evening is broadcasted at 93.8 and on the web here
- Space capacity is limited, so come early to get the best sounding seats
- There is a 80% chance of having a table ice hockey available - ask for pucks at the dj booth
- Johan will bring records to sale, so if you want older Sally Shapiro stuff, show us the money
- Turku duo Cat & Lynx will perform a surprise thingy for Johan tomorrow around 5 pm. It's something really, really special, heard for the first time and maybe the last. DON'T MISS & DON'T TELL JOHAN.
- We have a competition: put your favorite Johan Agebjorn production link to the event wall. We'll randomly pick the winner and he/she gets the newest Casablanca nights and the Sally Shapiro debut.
- There's blankets and cover if it rains a bit.

Let's see you tomorrow,
- Peffis

Top 10 from Johan Agebjorn himself + videomegamix

It really IS true. Only 8 days to go.

Dj Goatboy asked a while back if Johan could also contribute a top 10, and of course we're more than happy to do that. So here it goes, from the man himself. I linked the song names so you can listen to them easily.

Top 10 inspirational tracks for my disco productions - Johan Agebjorn

1. Valerie Dore "Get Closer"
2. FPU "Waiting For Snow"
3. Ercola feat. Annie "Follow Me"
4. The Whitest Boy Alive "Golden Cage (Fred Falke Remix)"
5. Humate "Love Stimulation (Love Mix)"
6. Savage "Don't Cry Tonight"
7. Bogdan Irkük a.k.a. Bulgari "Caprice"
8. Katy Gray "Hold Me Tight"
9. Nicolas Makelberge "Dying In Africa"
10. Pet Shop Boys "King's Cross"

I already feel a bit nervous and excited about the night. The Heineken popup is already up and running, and the sunset is amazing to witness from the bar.

BONUS:
Here's a bonus, more from the Finnish/Italo side of the spectrum. I put together 20 campy-ish videos from 80's for this videomegamix. All the songs are good, un-ironically, but the videos tend to go to the camp road. Thumbs up!

ANOTHER BONUS:

Johan has a blog that very few know about. Check it out here.

Have a good weekend,
Peffis

12 days to go - Johan Agebjörn interviews and a mix

Less than two weeks to go to our Suomi-Ruotsi-Disko-Ottelu. Here's a little recap of recent interviews and mixes Johan has made. We'll have something extra special from Disco Urse too in the following week or so, so hold on for Finnish disco goodness.

Johan Agebjorn interview 1 with Resident advisor

Johan Agebjorn interview 2 - with Tracasseur (there's a link to free tune at the end, too)

Johan Agebjorn interview 3 - with It's a Trap

And to have some good music to accompany your reading, here's a recent mix Johan made for URB.com.

Tracklist:

1. Johan Agebjörn: Spacer Woman From Mars (Ambient Instrumental)
2. Walter Jones: Hot Contact
3. Camaro’s Gang: Fuerza Major (Tensnake Remix)

Top 10 for our first foreign dj, Johan Agebjorn of Sally Shapiro

Hooray, we have landed our first foreign dj visit; Johan Agebjörn of Sally Shapiro fame is going to come here later this month when we're having our Finnish-Swedish-Disco-Battle. So check your calendars for 23rd of his month. I've created a FB event, so you can check Finnish info there. To complete the lineup, we chose Disco Urse - one of the best collectors of Finnish Disco music - who rocked memorably the Dynamo upstairs when we last had him here. Check his cult Synteettinen Suomi for evidence if don't know him yet.

I'm very excited about this already. You don't get too often a chance to get that many heroes you've liked to perform in your town. Now we are making it happen, partly thanks to Heineken and Turku Modern.

To celebrate the forthcoming visit, here's my top 10 Johan Agebjörn related songs:

1. The Chameleon (Johan Agebjörn Remix) - Glass Candy
2. Friday Bridge - This Case is Closed (Johan Agebjörn Remix)
3. Sally Shapiro - Jackie Junior (Junior Boys remix)
4. Sally Shapiro - Moonlight Dance
5. Sally Shapiro - He Keeps Me Alive
6. Sally Shapiro - Anorak Christmas
7. Sally Shapiro - Miracle (Bogdan Irkuk Remix)
8. Johan Agebjörn featuring Nintendo - Mega Man II
9. Sally Shapiro - Dying in Africa
10. Johan Agebjorn & Ercola ft Queen of Hearts - The Last Day Of Summer

I'll post some other Disco Urse & Johan Agebjörn related material before the night to get the hype up. Oh did I mention it is going to be FREE entrance? And we are going to have a superspecial surprise coming up for Johan...

Have a good week,
- Peffis
