I've been trying to link to a lot of freebies on the blog, but now it's time to inform you about some tracks that are on sale now. Most of them are limited vinyl or going to be sold out soon, so if you fancy them, it might be best to hurry.
1. Bottin presents Message from the Leader
A new edit from my favorite Venetian. The Message From The Leader -side, the one that starts from 1:30 on the video is the winner here. I haven't been to figure out what's the original track, but the synths have a Patrick Adams flavor to them... Limited to 300 copies.
2. Theo Parrish - Ugly Edits CD comp
Let me say this first: Over 30 euros for a CD is a lot to pay. But when you consider that this is an official repress and the first press of the CD comp is bidding around 50 euros and the original vinyl singles - which are heavily bootlegged in not-so-good quality - ship sometimes near a hundred... well, it doesn't feel that bad - and probably for me the edit number 7 is alone worth the money.
3. Stevie Nicks - "Smiling At You" (Young Edits Going Home Version)
A piano and bass driven edit of Stevie Nicks. This one seems to have gone already from some distributors, so act fast if you want this one. Already tested and approved by so many tastemaker dj's. Kojak is a vinyl only label, so you have to look for that piece of plastic if you want it at full glory. Nice video too - I was there at the boat BTW.
4. Locussolus - I Want It (Lindstrom & Prins Thomas Remix)
I guess the least rare of the things listed here. Prins Thomas & Lindstrom doin' a remix again, and doing it well. Funniest track of the moment with all those horns, irresistible groove and those few nods to Venus. Can't wait to play this one.
5. Jazzanova feat Ben Westbeech - I Can See (Filippo Moscatello Rmx)
This Jazzanova track was originally released years ago, but now it gets the disco treatment. From the high quality label Wurst Edits, Filippo Moscatello really makes the best out of the soulful vocal and gets the show on the road with that rolling bassline. Wurst releases have the habit of selling all copies out, so better cop it if you see it around. It's also digitally available.
Have a good week,

Aeroplane hotness
Just to prove that I don't only listen to oldies. I'm also a hip dj, or whatever the kids say nowadays.
We've been huge Aeroplane fans for a long time here at DWTF headquarters. They have been putting out a steady line of amazing remixes and some good mixes too. (For mixes, check out their myspace, this Beats in Space italo mix, or this nice 5 minute minimix) Needless to say, their version of Friendly Fires' Paris is still one of the tunes of the year.
Here they are coming with two good remixes. Hopefully these two will get a vinyl release, so I'll get to play them too. (I'm not a huge fan of mp3- or wav-files.) Lindstrom said to me that the last one would come as a 7 inch and also with double 12 inches.
Au Revoir Simone - Another Likely Story (Aeroplane Remix)
Lindstrøm & Christabelle - Baby Can't Stop (Aeroplane Remix)
Both have been out for a while, at least in the bags of top profile dj's. I've seen Todd Terje and Pete Herbert spin the last one. Can't wait to get my hands on them.

It's the remix # 4
It might actually be already remix # 5... But let's not let that get into the way.
I've always been more interested in the attitude of Lindstrom than really his music, to be honest. I Feel Space is still a stellar track, but apart from it, his and Prins Thomas' Cd compilations we're a bit of a disappointment for me. Recently, I've really loved their dj sets and remixes, so it's a mixed reception. BTW, I did an interview with them for Basso magazine a half an year back - check that out if you're interested.
This remix is one of those that really stand out. Maybe even one of the remixes of the year. It's Lindstrom's take on Doves' Jetstream.
What does Lindstrom do with it? He takes the oscillating background drums and says "this track needs to take off ground". What we get is 5 minutes of exquisite jamming that builds up with killer bassline and takes you with it to the skies. After the 5 minute mark Lindstrom brings in the vocals, which sound totally different in this context. They build up emotional, but not stressful tension for a few minutes, followed by a sweet release when it all goes back to crazy jam mode for the rest of the song. Such a great moment, especially with the strings!
I bought this one yesterday from our local record shop (I'm still one of those suckers who hasn't moved on to all mp3 sets). Can't wait to drop it on a decent soundsystem.
