Getting ready for next year

Here's what's gonna happen in the coming year:

Yup, we're gonna do some changes around here. Our normal club night will go on as usual and deliver disco goodness at Dynamo. We are probably bringing some dope guests for this season, if we can get their schedules to fit. This blog might go from being written in English to Finnish, and we both should be contributing more to this. My radio show - Diskonservatorio - might just go back to radio waves if I can get a good platform for it. Spotify-lists and mixes will definitely go on, since people really dig them and they really are a good way of spreading around our knowhow and favorites. Our Facebook group page will probably change to Fan page, so we can update it more easily.

Musicwise we are are broadening our spectra even more.

There's a few other aces up our sleeves, but you'll just have to sit tight and wait for the news. We haven't sorted them all out yet.

But what we definitely want to do more is get connected with you and get some feedback. So, what would you like us to have more or do differently next season?

UPDATES

Updates, updates, updates...

I decided to do a little bit of renovating around this blog: changed the color scheme to a more neutral and balanced, added that photo, changed the infobox on the right. Feel free to comment on how the graphic design works: I'm aiming to make it as easy to read as possible. I'm thinking about should we also include upcoming gigs or recent Top-5's here somewhere or not. Comments are very welcomed.

I also updated our Spofify playlist. Apparently you can subscribe to it in the new version of Spotify, and we have near 170 subscribers already. Quite amazing, I hadn't even updated it in a while.

And here's a recent Top 5 from me:

Kc flight - planet e (tony johns 88 forever edit)
G.A.N.G. - KKK
Roland Clark - I Get Deep (Leo zero re-edit)
Abe Duque feat. Blake Baxter - What happened?
Cantoma - Gambara [Lexx Remix]

Have a good week,

5 times LOVE

I was making a list for a Finnish dj forum about 5 songs that have been bumping on my soundsystems for a while. The funny thing was that I didn't notice how many of my picks actually included word LOVE in them (4 out of 5).

So I thought I'd share my selections with you. I decided to change the one song that didn't have LOVE in it and another one I already had posted here, tho.

Here are the 5 songs. The links lead to a video/stream of the song, so you can check them out by clickin'.

Chic - I want you love (Todd Terje edit)
Azari & III - Reckless with Your Love
Sammy Gordon & The Hip Huggers - Making Love
Kris di Angelis & Ben Dobie - Making Love (Move Closer)
Ten City - That's The Way Love Is (Underground Mix)

Now I see that I could have easily made a Top 10, If I had wanted.

Listwise speaking, I hope everyone has discovered our Spotify-playlist. Me and Ripatti try to update it as often as possible, so you can keep up with the music we discover all_the_time. Of course, there's not that much older, rare, only-vinyl stuff there, so I'll try to bump those songs via this blog.

We do reminisce over you

I heard Michael Jackson had passed away this morning. I never really had a personal relationship to his music, maybe because I was mostly brought up with 90's metal and indie. Back then he had already started to become the target for cheap late night comedians to pick upon. I always felt really sorry for the way the tide and general opinion turned again him - after he'd given us some of the finest music in his youth (and basically sacrificed his normal life for entertaining us), he was suddenly treated as only a freak.

So, I really don't know enough about MJ to give a proper rundown of his best work. But I do know this blog (which is in Finnish), which runs through the best 100 MJ songs. It's a good selection with links to his music and one of the best music journalism I've encountered. Do check that out, it's definately worth your time.

Kudos to Juuso for pointing me that blog out a while back.
